A TRIBUTE TO MY MOTHER=)
I'm here to honor the one I love
She's my mother, my best friend, my counselor, ya' know all of the above
I can't thank her enough for all that she has done
With the help of God, all the obstacles have been fought and won
Hearing her voice will make you melt
And with the help of her fellow musicians, oh it's something else
Now accomplishing these things were not easy along the way
Her entire journey, God tested her faith
One night she was standing in the need of prayer (a song mama wrote as a teenager)
It seemed as if God was gone because she didn't feel him anywhere
But she began climbing high mountains (another song mama wrote as a teenager), she was almost there
She was struggling to make it, but it wasn't something she couldn't bear
She got down on her knees and said "Lord it seems like you're just showing up after all the times I been down".
A soft voice whispered in her ear, "God was waiting on you and testing your faith cause he's been around." (another one of mama's songs)
Situations like that influence her to sing praises uplifting his name
It's been like that her entire life and nothing has changed
Music is her passion and Christ is her way
Her blessings don't come from luck, they come from faith.
.....MAMA YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL, STRONG POWERFUL, LOVING, CARING, DETERMINED, HARD-WORKING, GLORIOUS, DOWN-TO-EARTH, GIVING, TALENTED, PATIENT, AND THAT PERSON I CAN TALK, LAUGH, AND CRY TO, THAT'S WHEN I GET OLDER, I WANNA BE "JUST LIKE YOU"<333
I'm Black and I'm Proud=)
our skin is not black
our skin is brown
our world is not messed up
our skin is brown
our world is not messed up
it's perfectly round
our hair is not nappy
it just shows we're tough
and we are not "ghetto"
we've just had enough
our language is not slang
it is historically profound
that language where you have to know when to use it,
depending on who you're around
our bodies are not unhealthy
we eat the food "we" made
if I must make the more clear
"the food that was planted by our former slaves"
we african americans have made history
the "whites" didnt do it alone
Thomas Edison invented the light bulb,
but Lewis Latimer's carbon filament made it came on.
Christy Ruth Walton is the richest woman in the world, but you're not aware
that Madam CJ Walker became the first female African American millionaire.
Jeff Healey was a famous white rock and jazz guitarist born in 1966 who at 8 months became blind
However, Dr. Patricia E. Bath invented the method of eye surgery to help people regain there sight in 1949.
African Americans are the future, we want to stand above the rest
so let's stand strong and make our legend a success.
Hidden Secrets
I am an extravagant sixteen year old.
People think they know me, but the story's untold.
I was born in New York, to be more specific Southside Queens.
I am the most beautiful teenager you have ever seen.
I strut when I walk.
I hold my head up high.
I wear my hair way down my back,
and my skirts above my thigh.
My hair is sandy red.
My eyes are cinnamon brown.
My lips are just luscious,
and my face is perfectly round.
When I walk by the boys all stare.
The girls break their necks to speak to me.
They follow me everywhere.
I'm the life of the party.
My hair is never ugly and my outfit is always tight.
My parents are rich.
The word broke never comes out my mouth.
Ask anyone around here,
I'm the baddest of the South.
I have made straight A's since I've been in school.
I have never failed a test,
and I have never broke a rule.
Guys are not an issue.
They just come and go.
As soon as I lose one, I pick up two mo'.
I'm my own person.
I'm one of a kind.
I'll emphasize my accent,
and make you lose yo' mind.
I eat very healthy;
that's how I keep my curves.
I have life on a silver platter,
because that's what I deserve.
My life is basically perfect, as you can see,
but there are hidden secrets inside of me.
I don't let it show on the outside,
because I don't want to be stereotyped at all.
I'm HIV positive;
I was diagnosed last fall.....
